In my opinion religion should not be taught in schools. Because religion is no science. Religion is based on belief, not on facts. When it comes to facts (science), discussions are impossible. Therefore there shouldn’t be schools based on religion and there shouldn’t be religious education. Religion is something private, something you do at home and in your church and temple. No religions, no differences.
Well, I don’t believe in God or in Jesus Christ as his son. And I don’t believe in karma and reincarnation. I believe that everything is nature and like Mother Nature with all her positive and negative possibilities, events and traits. Why? Because! Naturally! It is like it is.
And I am sure there is only one way to try to create the best version of human being and of life: to do the best we can in the Here and the Now, for and with each other. To take our responsibility. Not to rely on God and on a life after death, but to realize we all have one chance, one life and it’s up to us to make the most out of it.
Not many people find this a wonderful message: most people want to hear there will be a (better) life after death and that some superpower will save us, and that there’s some superpower caring for us. But I don’t believe in that. I believe in the Here and the Now and in what we CAN do! And I want to do good, not because of a religion, but because I am a good person and I believe in being kind. Then it really comes out of me and then it’s my own conviction.
If there’s anything of a moral subject that should be taught in schools, it is that we people have to do the best we can in the Here and Now, with and for one another.
I want to hear from a Palestinian person he/she doesn’t want Israelians to be killed and I want to see a man or woman from Israel suffer because of the hurt of a Palestinian mother or child, or man. We have to care for each other, not only for the ‘own’ people.
We all have just one life, one chance, and then we attach importance to money, geographical boundaries, nationalism, power, profits and again money! We all die, we all get ill, we all know tragedies (disasters, accidents, illness, death) and then we make this of it!
Religion keeps us old fashioned, dumb and passive. Therefore it shouldn’t be taught in school. What should be taught, is the own responsibility for our own lifes, for each other and Mother Earth. What should be taught, is being kind to each other. And what should be taught, is knowledge and science, not an assumption of which there are thousands of (and they all think they have/know the one and only truth)!
Of course I don’t really know anything about the mystery/puzzle of life. But then I don’t jump to conclusions and I don’t believe a single word people say about it: God, karma, reincarnation, Jesus Christ, Allah, Mohammed. I believe in humanity, in friendship, in honesty, in Mother Nature, in life, in the Here and the Now, in the power of relaxation, love and joy. In reality here on earth. And in the power of working together and caring for each other.
Isn’t that a wonderful message? Yes, it is. And it could be a wonderful way of life of we all realised that it’s the only possible way to try to create the best version of ourselves, the human race and life on earth…
